mianus, canine anus, anus, anus, anus: a wedding weekend

Well, I'm back from my Canadian/New Jersian adventure and I think I need another vacation to recuperate! Having spent 50 hours in a car this week, I can safely say I experienced every human emotion known to man (and some I'm pretty sure that I invented). Not only did I get to witness my dear friend (since the 1st grade!) get married, I got to help my pops blow out 50 birthday candles, hug my future sister-in-law, and see beautiful Nova Scotia. Wow! When I spell it out like that it sounds like a breeze! Let's just say it didn't go down so smoothly.

Don't get me wrong, I had a blast catching up with old friends and traveling. One of the highlights of the trip came when we were driving past Mianus, CT. My two lovely traveling companions and I had about an hour of Mianus fueled laughter. Awesome. On the opposite end of the anal spectrum was my friend's bout of food poisoning, which we determined was a result of eating her weight in lobster the day before. She was miserable and I can't believe what a trooper she was!

The trip was a blast and I won't even begin to describe it. I'll let the pictures do the talking. I will say that Chester, Nova Scotia is one of the most beautiful places I've ever visited and I highly recommend going during race week, when the entire town gets drunk and watches boat races (and the town fills up with hot, tan sailors grrrrrrrroooww!). Also, Nova Scotians are some of the warmest, most welcoming people I have ever met!

Here are some pics of the fun:

The best friends anyone could ever have!

Sometimes I can't believe we've been friends for over 20 years

After a whirlwind of a weekend and a funny mishap with my best friend in a Wendy's bathroom with this guy and his wife:
My hero

I arrived home to my parents house to find a very sick pupperstein who was puking and shitting blood.  I know: graphic.  Two trips to the AnimERge and $350 later my poor little guy is finally eating again and on the road to recovery.  Seriously though, I don't understand how people cope with being parents.  I was so freaked out about my little guy, I almost died.  Maxwell and I appreciate all of the support on Twitter.  If you want to brighten his day even more, then vote for him in the Cutest Dog Competition

Although I am exhausted, I am so glad I got be be apart of so many momentous occasions this week. An engagment, a birthday and a wedding. On the other hand, I could have done without the sick dog, 50 hours in a car and friend with food poisoning. Sorry if I sound a little anal;)

the caper goes canadian

So, I embark tomorrow on a Canadian adventure, by way of New Jersey and will have limited (if any) access to the internets.  I'm looking forward to a great road trip with my BFFs and for the wedding weekend in Nova Scotia.  When I get back, I'll tell you all aboooot it!

I'm all packed and just made sure the old ipod(s) are stocked with some great tunage. I probably should have consulted with Mr. Vinyl for a road mix, but i'm not that prepared and he's not that nice. Anyway, have a great week. I'll miss you! I'll be playing "I spy with my Canadian eye." feel free to email "eye spys" from your travels!

Cutest Dog Competition

OK, so I absolutely do not remember submitting Maxwell for this contest, but yesterday I got an email saying the people at CDC thought he was so cute they automatically advanced him in to round #2 of the cutest dog competition.  As of late this blog has turned in to a rambling self-promotion and I'm aware.  I, I mean Maxwell could really use a million dollars.  Vote for him here:

the caper is crafty...it's bazaar bizaare!

I've always enjoyed my inner crafter.  You know, the kind who wears Hanes sweatshirts with santa appliques traced in metallic puff paint and dangly jingle bell earrings. I am not ashamed to own a glue gun or that I would rather knit than go out in the winter.  I always have at least 8oz of Modge Podge on hand for decoupage emergencies and more iron on letters and t-shirts than Michael's and Jo-Ann's combined.  Get the picture?
A few months ago in the restaurant I decided to collect all of our used bottle caps and make nifty little, recycled creations.  After some research in development, I came up with my initial product: kitchen magnets.  I started a little shop on Etsy  to sell my li'l creations and hope to expand my crafty empire in the weeks to come.  I am designing Christmas ornaments now and hope to have those ready in time for the holiday season.  I am really excited about this project because  it will allow me to:

a) quench my desire to craft, craft and craft some more
b) help me make a little $mulah$ to help pay for, well, everything
c) expand my recycled creations into other design as well as feature my "bike tube" jewelry
d) hopefully, it means I will be accepted as a vendor at the most awesomest craft fair ever: Bazaar Bizarre

I hope to be able to split a table with my fabulous friend Jeannie and her amazing knits!  Do you shop/sell on Etsy? I would love to know about your shop/favorite sellers!

The Caper
